What we do
Within the MEET (Monitoring Earth’s Evolution and Tectonics) project, the ILGE (Integrated Laboratories for Geosciences and Environment) network embarks on a multifaceted mission. We prioritize the integration and enhancement of existing national research infrastructures, the optimization of national laboratories, and the maximization of resource utilization to rationalize investments in Italian research. ILGE is equally dedicated to supporting the mobility of students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, researchers, professors, and technicians across various infrastructures to cultivate a dynamic environment for collaboration and knowledge exchange, crucial for advancing Earth sciences.
A critical aspect within this context is providing free-of-charge access to laboratory facilities to enhance international and national collaborative efforts and to foster open science and innovation. For this reason, ILGE is initiating the transnational access (TNA) and national open access (NOA) program. The initiative aims to facilitate the efficient and effective use of laboratory equipment by bringing together and opening up key national facilities to European researchers. The creation of a TNA/NOA network through two calls for access aims to catalyze collaboration at both national and international scales. Within ILGE, the management of TNA/NOA guarantees centralized coordination for access to all laboratory facilities included in the network, designing services and procedures to deliver competitive access to network laboratories in alignment with open science principles.
